Pixelshire bombards you with so many tasks as a way to teach you the game. In one task, you’ll have to create a pond, but it isn’t exactly intuitive.
To finish the objective, you need the proper tools, and here’s a step-by-step guide to creating a pond in Pixelshire.
How to Make a Pond in Pixelshire

When you reach the objective where you need to talk to Cpt. Farrell, the game will teach you how to gift items to NPCs and pivot immediately to landscaping. You’ll be tasked to create a small 6-tile pond using the Shovel tool you get from Cpt. Farrell, apart from shoveling dirt to find his Coin.
To create a pond, you’ll use the Shovel to dig through the terrain until you make a pond. Each shovel on the ground removes a layer of it. Shoveling grass turns the tile to dirt, and digging it again turns it to soil. If you shovel the soil tile, it’ll become a water tile. Repeat this for six tiles or until you make your desired pond.
I only made a tiny 3×2 pond tile to finish the quest or objective. It doesn’t matter where you make the pond because, at this part of the game, points of interest aren’t that clear yet to the player, and you don’t know where the optimal spots are to make a pond or a farm.
But you can pick any spot to create your pond because you can easily remove it anyway, unless you plan on planting some Rice Seeds in it.
After making the pond, you’ll be tasked with making the pond smaller.
How to Make the Pond Smaller in Pixelshire

While the pond doesn’t have a specific size request, decreasing the size by half did the trick for me. Use your Shovel and switch the option to the elevated tile, as seen in the lower-right corner of the image above.
Once you have selected the elevated tile option, you add a layer to it each time you dig through a tile. To make your pond smaller, do this for three tiles.
If you still want your pond there, you can reduce the pond size to finish the objective and put it back again. I suggest going through the objectives so you can have a broader idea of how you can plan out your farm!
